About the Art
As an adult, with limited resources, I began creating “art” from the things that surrounded me. Plants, fabrics, packing material, things I found to be geometric and beautiful. Collages full of texture, form and color soon became my hallmark.
Today I use many mediums to create collages. Paint, wire, fabric, natural items, ceramics, plastics, and glass as well as a myriad of found objects. Working as a classroom teacher as well as in a Designer’s Studio, I am amazed at the number of wonderful ”bits and pieces” that are often thrown away or discontinued. One of a kind, hand made, fabrics that were “too small” to keep, samples, packing materials, all a treasure trove of materials for me to use. I guess you can say I have been going “green” long before that notion became popular.
I believe, and have been told, that I work very cleanly. Even so, you will find tiny faults in all of my work because I like it that way! We are a mortal collection of people, with very real and interesting quirks. Each and every piece comes from my “history, my memories” as a person. They reveal my thoughts, a remembered color, a walk with grandma where we collected treasures.
My art may suggest something to you or make you laugh. It may appear moody or jubilant or reflective. However the final product may appear, my art reveals a part of me. If I do not find it be wonderful, you will never see it on a wall. It is my honor to share myself with you in this way and it is my hope that you find my art interesting, thought provoking and beautiful!
